We’re back! After a year of “Afrobeat Tribute to Michael Jackson” shows, COMMOTION is bigger and better than ever! We’ll be debuting our new band and new music at our first show in over a year. The Goodfoot (SE 28th and Stark Portland, OR) is the place to be on December 11th. Reva Devito and her band will open the show!
Send me two songs you’d like to hear “mashed-up” at the concert. If we choose your songs, you’ll win two free tickets to the show and we’ll perform the songs!
“Mash-Up”
A remix made by taking two different songs, usually by 2 seperate artists, and combining them into one.
Ex: Closer in Da Club (Nine Inch Nails: Closer, combined with 50 cents Up in Da Club)

“I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” is a genre-breaking experience. The new 6-song EP from Ben Darwish leaves the listener satisfied yet ready to play it over and over again. It is his first studio recording in 4 years, and has been long awaited by fans. This is a clear departure from his live album released in 2009 called “Ode to Consumerism” which featured long explorations and intense energy captured in the group’s live performances. Instead, “I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” highlights explosive and subtle moments in tight knit, melodic compositions. The official release date is May 7th 2010.

Yes! We’ve been invited to audition at Lincoln Center for the Rhythm Road Tour. Sponsored by the State Department, the tour puts 10 quartets in different countries for a month, performing and teaching about jazz. They’re flying us out to New York in a couple weeks to audition so wish us luck!
